@hypocrisy, do you have any language set for yourself? In Qaiku every post has to be tagged with some language, and if you don't have one, you can't post.
Normally one shouldn't be able to get into this situation, but in some cases this has happened. You should be okay if you go --> settings > language settings and choose a default language for yourself.
I'm @ jkniiv2, @ jibun over there due to registration issues (too long password or some dumb shit -- seriously 31 characters is not too long). Due to some Facebook Connect registration probs i also can't gain control of @ jkniiv without the help of Qaiku admins.

@hypocrisy, yes it's very much a bug, we are trying to very hard to figure out why the process sometimes fails. We have to write the code to be even more defensife in case of failures, and this has a really big priority in our list.
@jkniiv, we'll see tomorrow what we can do about this, we'll come up with some kind of solution to this problem. If you have any other ideas (than long password) what could have broken your registration through the fb connect or otherwise, we would really like to hear them.

@jkniiv, i am sorry we didn't have time to "repair" your first account yesterday; we think we found the reason of all the registration problems, so we focused on fixing it. We try to get your account fixed today.
@map, unfortunately we have had no time to revisit this issue yet as we have concentrated on fixing all the severe bugs. They are going down at quite good speed atm.

@BUGabundo, Qaiku's endurance on big threads has been just tested out by the finnish qaikuers; they tested out if they could make a thread that has 1000 replies. It went quite well, there's now 1057 comments in that thread (they have ended the posting now). In the web it was no problem, but the thread was too much for some mobile phones, but some did okay to the end (for example nokia e71 and n95).
@runningwithbulls, np, it was our pleasure. We'll have to sort some stuff out because of longer usernames, but it's okay, and we'll get it right :) See you on the other side!
@bugabundo, yup, that's the one use case that haven't been dealt with just yet (so atm you cannot unsub from a thread that you haven't participated yourself - that means you'll get your friends comments from those threads). We'll try to get this case fixed asap as well.

Jaiku source is out there, but it's all in a large snake. All the people I used to only communicate with on Jaiku are spread all round the place. And I'm mega busy and haven't had time to even think about working it all out.

Also, over the last couple of days i have seen posts that the new mobile client is making progress towards it's release and that there are investigations as to why the mDOT site is not working.
I prefer the interface & community of Jaiku, unfortunatly it feels like there are only a few of us "die hard" memebers left after the last 9 months of problems, but i too will be hanging in here until Jaiku either raises pheonix like from the ashes, or everyone gives up and the lights are turned off.

I was thinking of mocking up some alternative designs for Jaiku, seeing as that might be an option. Do people think they'd like to have an option for picking an alternative "theme" (I should ask that on the google group I guess).

I won't leave Jaiku either, BUT the fact that stuff like Ping.fm stopped working all of a sudden and the bugs showing up here and there are taking away a great deal from the user experience. Not to mention that I get eczema from anything "cloud" related lol ;D
@bugabando late I know, but we post about qaiku here because it appeals to a similar community, and confused as we are like @alexleonard we are hedging our bets. True Jaiku believers like @ymb and probably the rest of this thread may be spreading to the four winds but it is the Jaiku interface we like best.
I for one am hoping for a 2 horse race between the KUs. If we share the love between them then we will end up the winner.

@jkniiv I had that issue too, but I reset my password on registration and then set another shorter/non special character one and it worked fine.

It looks nice. Slightly different than Jaiku, obviously, but good that it is being actively developed.
I have to figure some things out now.
Most importantly: you have a mobile site. That's one big different.
