I'm getting closer to the end of my iPhone contract (still a couple of months) . Can anyone now persuade me to move to another phone system?

It depends. What do you want in a phone?

It has to be full featured and useable and have an excellent web browser. The iPhone has all that, and the one stop app shop with the thousands of apps to play with is great. On the other hand the Camera is not great, the one thing I really miss from the N95 I used to carry. Also, despite likeing the one stop shop element for applications, I don't like having to do everything through iTunes

am happy with my iphone (lol using it for only 8 weeks by now, it is still brand new to me) but if i had to give it back, i would go for the htc hero or the sony satio (the latter for camera reasons, i hated the slooooow camera back on the n95).... nokia is churning out too many phones in too short order and make my head spin with all the different models. sorry nokia, but you lost me for some time.....

@denise: I think I feel the same about Nokia, but I haven't played with any of their touchscreen phones. Mrs Waveys E71 is really nice, but not the sort of phone I'd go for.

Glad you are enjoying your iPhone. Is it a new 3GS or a 3G like mine?

What do you think of the Droid?

@WaveyDavey001: a 3GS ( but i have been practising with the touch for over a year, waiting for my tomtom car kit right now... :) - @adewale i would love to get a droid to play with, but i have no idea when or even if we will get it here.... half of my collegues/friends use an android phone and i was it who pushed them there in the first place ;-)

@adewale: I've just looked through a couple of reviews and it looks pretty awsome if they can improve a bit on the camera shots (which I'm guessing might be a software glitch). It won't be until after Xmas at the earliest before I decide to change phones so I will be watching Android phones closely. This was an interesting Article. Although I'm bored with the iPhone Killer, Windows Killer, PS3 killer type of lazy articles I thought the comment on Uniformity was interesting. http://technmarketing.com/cellphone/five-reasons-droid-will-not-kill-the-iphone/

Uniformity is a nice argument. Although it's not completely true. I have an iPhone 3G and new apps make it stutter in ways that scream "upgrade to a 3Gs." As time goes on there are going to be more and more people wandering around with old iPhones and iTouch devices.

It's going to be trickier for developers to just assume that everyone has the latest and greatest device especially as smartphones start reaching the less geeky parts of the market.

@adewale: Agreed, but when you upgrade the iPhone it is to the 3G. Then when you upgrade the 3G it is to the 3GS. That wasn't the same with the N95 really- Should it have been the N96 or the N85 or N86? Hang on what about the 5800, oh wait a minute there is an N97 No make that the N97 mini.... Its one thing upgrading, but understanding the upgrade path and how well a model will be supported is important. That is what makes me slightly hesitant about Android too.

If you have a Playstation, you should look at the SE Aino. If you like line-in to TV (or have a wireless SCART at home), you'll be impressed by what the SE Satio delivers.

I'm hoping that the rumours are true and there's a sensor with decent image quality at 8 megapixels. I still miss my k800i

SonyEricsson deserves respect. The Satio deserves its 12 Mp rating. It's fast and clean to hand, knows faces and lets you edit stills and videos on the phone. Sony and 3M are working at putting 3D imagery into the handsets within a year's time (no special glasses reqd). I like the build of the handsets and one of my year-old C902s is currently downrange in Africa filming a travelogue with a HD camera team. My K800i is still working as the grandparent's phone nowadays.
